All this time I was just using it to cut ringtones... thanks for the idea! But I do like the point you bring up about the "digital" monikers, about how there is no point in using a digital method to tell a story when traditional methods are perfectly acceptable, and perhaps much easier. The trick is to think outside the box, like you have, to do something with a story that could never be done before, without the use of computers. Technology needs to be used carefully in classrooms, in ways that are original and much more efficient than cheaper traditional ways. Huh, never thought of using Audacity for that.
